Outshine NW offers extensive, tailored resources to help improve cultural responsiveness and inclusivity of transgender persons in the field of medical research, for healthcare and social services providers, and within businesses.
We can provide staff trainings to assist with employee on-the-job transitions, project consultation, and recommendations for creating transgender inclusive forms, policies, and procedures.
We have conducted transgender cultural responsiveness trainings and presentations for the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN), HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN), UW School of Public Health, UW School of Nursing, Seattle Counseling Services’ Trans Health Fair, and a number of social services agencies.
We work with HIV researchers and research organizations to collaboratively improve scientific accuracy by ensuring inclusion of transgender people in studies. Some of the world’s leading HIV prevention scientists consult with Outshine NW to ensure their work is culturally competent while also yielding reliable, valid, meaningful data.
Additionally, we work with non-profit and for-profit organizations to provide cultural responsiveness training that meets people where they’re at and genuinely shifts perspective toward embracing diversity in the workplace. This advocacy extends to healthcare providers and social services providers as well, utilizing a cooperative approach encouraging professionals to proactively learn how best to provide for transgender patients and clients.
